Job summary

Coast Guard Exchange (USCGCSC) in Washington, DC is seeking a Child Care Assistant. The role plans and executes early childhood activities, supports curriculum implementation, and promotes safe, positive interactions among children and staff.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, English proficiency, and at least one year of experience with children. Physically able to lift up to 45 pounds and pass required background and medical clearances are necessary.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must read, write and speak English.
• One year of general experience working with children.
• Physically able to lift up to 45 pounds and perform related tasks.
• Must pass Tier 1 background investigation and renew every 5 years.
• Must pass Civilian Medical Clearance every two years.

Responsibilities

• Plans and executes early childhood education experiences with varied materials.
• Develops and implements age-appropriate curriculum with staff.
• Promotes a positive environment for child and youth interactions.
• Leads and assists in planned activities for program participants.
• Monitors safety and well-being in all areas of the program.
• Maintains participation data and required daily reports.
