Job summary

St. John's Lutheran Ministries, Inc. DBA St. John's United, through the Center for Generations, seeks a Child Care Provider I Assistant Teacher to deliver high quality, developmentally appropriate care and early education to children.

You will work under the Director of Early Childhood Development, following approved lesson plans, maintaining a safe environment, and supporting families and staff in a faith-based community setting.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or HiSet.
• Must have a genuine love for children.
• Must be knowledgeable about quality child care, normal child development, and State licensing regulations.
• Must be trained in child and infant CPR and 1st Aid, or obtain certification within a reasonable time after hire.
• Must follow Practitioner Registry requirements regarding trainings and maintain current status.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality, developmentally appropriate child care and education.
• Comply with all policies, procedures, laws and health and safety standards.
• Attend staff meetings, workshops and trainings.
• Identify needs for supplies and equipment and keep the facilities clean and in good repair.
• Provide effective classroom management and age-appropriate activities.
• Work with Lead Teachers to determine interests and contribute to lesson plans and curriculum guides.
• Create and maintain an effective classroom schedule and environment.
• Follow lesson plans and adjust as needed to meet group needs.
• Foster physical, cognitive, communication and social-emotional development.
• Support positive guidance and participate in Eden Alternative tasks.
