Job summary

St. Anne's Early Learning Center, part of the Diocese of St. Augustine, seeks an Early Learning Assistant Teacher to support the lead teacher and director in providing a loving, safe classroom.

You will implement developmentally appropriate activities, assist with lesson plans, and monitor child health, nutrition, and behavior development. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and be prepared to complete required trainings, background checks, and First Aid/CPR within set timelines.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
• DCF 45-hour training preferred. However, may be started within 30 days of hire and completed within 6 months.
• Prior experience in a child care setting preferred.
• Knowledge of child growth and development as well as developmentally appropriate practices for children ages birth to 5 years.
• Must successfully pass the required criminal background check prior to employment and every five years; must complete Protecting God’s Children (PGC) workshop prior to employment.
• TB screening and physical within ten days of hire and every two years thereafter.
• Infant & Child First Aid and CPR certification within 6 months of hire and renew prior to expiration.
• Must be able to complete 35 hours of in-service training each fiscal year.
• Knowledge of applicable safety and abuse reporting procedures, after training.
• Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with planning and implementing a culturally sensitive educational program for each child.
• Assists in planning daily lesson plans to promote development.
• Assists in conducting ongoing assessment and documentation.
• Supports a balanced daily routine with play, exploration and learning.
• Maintains a safe, clean and nurturing classroom environment.
• Attends parent meetings and communicates progress to families.
• Participates in professional development trainings (min. 35 hours/year).
