Job summary

Mexican American Opportunity Foundation seeks a Teacher Assistant to support teachers with instruction, supervision, and care in a safe, nurturing setting. You will assist with daily activities, meals, nap routines, and classroom tasks to promote development.

Requirements include six semester units in ECE/Child Development, 1 year of preschool experience preferred, and AB 1207 training within 90 days. Health, background checks, and Live Scan clearance are required for employment.

Qualifications

• Six (6) semester units in Early Childhood Education and/or Child Development.
• At least 1 year of experience with preschool-aged children preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with diverse cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Must complete AB 1207 Mandated Reporter Training within 90 days of hire and renew every 2 years.
• Must pass health requirements and live scan/background clearances.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Teacher with classroom instruction and daily activities.
• Support a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
• Provide continuous supervision to ensure health, safety, and well-being of children.
• Assist with implementing lesson plans and age-appropriate activities (art, music, games, etc.).
• Assist with attendance, classroom documentation, and observations of child development.
• Supervise the classroom when the Teacher is temporarily away.
• Attend required staff meetings, trainings, conferences, and parent meetings.
• Maintain a clean, organized classroom and outdoor learning environment.
• Collaborate with the Teacher on lesson plans and materials.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
