Yellow Brick Road Early Childhood Development Center in Ankeny, IA is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support curriculum implementation, supervise children, and assist with classroom management in a warm, inclusive setting.

Responsibilities include maintaining a safe, engaging classroom, documenting student progress, and communicating with families via the app. Requirements include DHS qualifications and CPR/First Aid certification (or willing to obtain within 30 days).

Qualifications

• Must meet DHS Assistant Teacher qualification requirements.
• Knowledge of early childhood development principles and best practices.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (lifting up to 40 lbs).
• Willingness to undergo background checks and meet state licensing requirements.
• Must possess CPR/First Aid certification, or obtain within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Educator with play-based, age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with early learning standards.
• Help maintain a positive classroom culture and student engagement.
• Supervise and engage with students to ensure safety and participation.
• Support documentation of student progress as directed by the Lead Educator.
• Assist with daily cleaning, sanitizing, and classroom routines.
• Assist with family communication via the Parent Communication app.
• Collaborate with colleagues to share ideas and best practices.
