Job summary

The United Counseling Service in Vermont seeks a Teacher Assistant to support early childhood classrooms under the supervision of the Teacher and Education Manager. The role focuses on creating a welcoming, secure atmosphere, preparing materials, and assisting with daily activities and field trips.

You will help supervise play, guide group activities, record observations, engage families at events, and maintain accurate attendance and student records.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid CDA or AA in early childhood education, or enrolled to obtain one within 2 years.
• Enrollment in CDA/AA program within 2 years of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Plan daily activities with the Teacher and prepare materials.
• Supervise play, participate in activities, and direct small/large group activities.
• Observe and report children's behavior; assist with self-care routines.
• Maintain classroom supplies and keep environment orderly.
• Engage families at events and support parent involvement.
• Maintain attendance records and daily observations; BFIS credential account up to date.
