Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an Early Career Mechanical Engineer in Milwaukee, WI to design building infrastructure—power and cooling—for data centers. You will collaborate with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineers, attend project site visits, and work with vendors to develop drawings and specifications.

You’ll interact with architects and structural engineers and may travel to project locations during construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or closely related discipline.
• 0 to 1 years of relevant post-education experience.
• Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
• Familiarity with process and concepts for design/build.
• Familiarity with mechanical systems, codes, and permits.
• Effective written and verbal communication with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Attention to detail with ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing and office software.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and CAM.

Responsibilities

• Collect, compile, and analyze data from sites, surveys, and drawings.
• Research and inspect site conditions to ensure conformance with rules and permits.
• Perform basic engineering functions and provide entry-level technical assistance.
• Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on design issues.
• Generate documentation and specifications using electronic systems and drawings.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and site procedures.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Maintain ethical use of company funds and resources.
• Take on additional duties as needed by projects.
