Job summary

WSP is seeking an Early Career Mechanical Engineer (Mission Critical/Data Center) for our New York, NY office. This full-time role supports the kW Mission Critical Team on infrastructure and data-center projects, including design, development, testing, and inspection of mechanical systems.

Responsibilities include assisting with data collection, basic design work, load calculations, and documentation to ensure safety, accuracy, and compliance with standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 0 to 1 years of relevant post-education experience.
• Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
• Familiarity with design/build concepts and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, and record-keeping.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engineering audiences.
• Ability to work independently or in a team with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, assist with data collection from sites, surveys, blueprints, and reports for project development.
• Assist with basic professional mechanical engineering work related to research and inspections of site conditions and systems.
• Perform routine engineering functions and provide entry-level technical assistance on design requirements and load calculations.
• Assist with verifying site characteristics and addressing engineering and construction issues.
• Generate documentation and specifications using electronic systems and field notes.
• Comply with safety guidelines and site procedures, with travel as needed.
• Complete training on assigned tasks and adhere to company policies.
