Job summary

WSP seeks an Early Career Electrical Engineer to support our TSMO team in Lisle, Illinois. You will help with roadway electrical, tolling, ITS, and communications projects, gaining experience in planning, inspections, operations, and design support.

The role emphasizes field work, asset inventories, data analysis, and collaboration with Tollway staff and multidisciplinary teams as you advance toward engineering responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 0-3 years of relevant experience.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain EIT preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Support roadway electrical, tolling, ITS, fiber communications, and transportation technology initiatives.
• Participate in field inspections, condition assessments, and asset inventory activities.
• Prepare technical reports, condition assessments, inspection documentation, and engineering recommendations.
• Coordinate with Tollway staff, consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Review plans, specifications, shop drawings, and construction submittals under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Assist with evaluating existing transportation technology assets and identifying opportunities for system improvements and technology enhancements.
