Job summary

WSP is seeking an Early Career Electrical Engineer to support the Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) team in Lisle, Illinois. You will assist with roadway electrical, tolling, ITS, and communications projects, gaining exposure to planning, inspections, design support, and project delivery.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering with 0–3 years of experience, are proficient in MS Office, and can collaborate effectively on multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 0–3 years of relevant experience.
• EIT certification or ability to obtain EIT preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Capacity to handle multiple tasks with minimal direction.
• Ability to perform field work and site visits throughout the Illinois Tollway system.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Support roadway electrical, tolling, ITS, fiber communications, and transportation technology initiatives for the Illinois Tollway.
• Participate in field inspections, condition assessments, and asset inventory activities throughout the Tollway system.
• Maintain inventories, asset condition data, and inspection records for transportation technology assets.
• Prepare technical reports, condition assessments, inspection documentation, repair cost estimates, and technical memoranda.
• Support planning, operations, and maintenance activities related to transportation technology infrastructure.
• Coordinate with Tollway staff, consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
