Job summary

Herndon Solutions Group (HSG) seeks an experienced Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Consultant to support NIH’s Occupational Medical Services program in Bethesda, MD. The role blends on-site and virtual counseling for a diverse federal workforce.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in social work or counseling, active state licensure, and at least two years of post-graduate clinical experience, including EAP work. Travel to NIH sites will be required. Start date January 1, 2027.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work or counseling.
• Current state license as LCSW-C/LCPC or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years post-graduate clinical counseling experience, including EAP.
• Experience in triage, crisis management, training, outreach, and referrals.
• Strong assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based, short-term counseling for personal and workplace concerns.
• Conduct clinical assessments, triage, crisis intervention, and debriefings.
• Consult with supervisors, managers, and HR regarding workplace concerns and EAP resources.
• Coordinate referrals to community behavioral health providers and resources.
• Deliver trainings on stress management, conflict resolution, and workplace communication.
• Maintain confidential documentation and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
• Provide onsite and virtual EAP services; travel as required.
