Job summary

FCCI Insurance Group is seeking a self-motivated individual for an E&S Underwriter Trainee position. You will train to underwrite risk for commercial business, learn guidelines, rating rules, and insurance laws, and develop relationships with agents and insureds within the assigned territory.

The program includes extensive training and on-the-job shadowing, with eventual evaluation and underwriting recommendations within limited authority.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; relevant work experience may substitute for education.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, relationship building, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to analyze, define and solve problems; uses good judgment and decision-making.
• Ability to determine customer needs, provide solutions and price business appropriately.
• Basic knowledge of underwriting processes, coverages, tools and company products and services.

Responsibilities

• Train to underwrite risk and determine selection/rejection of new and renewal commercial business.
• Develop underwriting thought process and learn guidelines, rating manual rules and insurance laws/regulations.
• Build strong relationships with agents and insureds within assigned territory.
