Job summary

Pratt Industries in Valparaiso, IN is seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to install, service, and maintain the mill's electrical and instrumentation systems, including PLCs, motor controls, and distributed control systems. You will diagnose complex issues, read schematics and diagrams, and perform precision wiring and high‑voltage work ensuring safe operations.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams.
• Willingness to perform physical tasks, lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders.
• Strong commitment to safety and following lockout/tag out procedures.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic problems on process equipment.
• Repair and wire 120V, 460V AC, and 24V DC circuits; install distribution systems and controls.
• Service PLCs, distributed control systems, motors, and drive systems.
• Interpret P&ID, hydraulic, pneumatic, and wiring diagrams for installations and repairs.
• Use multimeter and Megohm meter to diagnose issues; prepare safe high-voltage work sequences.
• Operate forklifts and other lifting equipment to support maintenance tasks.
• Participate in ongoing education and certificate programs.
