Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking an Electrical and Instrumentation Technician for The Hopewell Mill in Virginia. The role supports safety-driven maintenance, troubleshooting, and predictive activities in a heavy manufacturing setting.

You will work with PLCs, drives, and process controls while collaborating with maintenance and operations to keep equipment uptime high. Overtime and rotating shifts are expected in this industrial environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Five years' experience in Electrical and Instrumentation or an E&I degree.
• Ability to work overtime and rotating shifts.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Mechanical craft experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Identify and mitigate safety hazards before starting work with proper PPE.
• Support preventive and predictive maintenance throughout the facility.
• Troubleshoot and solve problems with maintenance leadership and operations.
• Initiate and complete work-orders and requisitions; document key information.
• Work in coordination with maintenance teams to maintain uptime metrics.
• Follow safety procedures and report hazards immediately.
