Job summary

Rivian Automotive in Normal, IL is looking for an E-coat line technician to keep the coating line running and compliant with quality systems. You will monitor process stability, perform titrations, and troubleshoot chemical and mechanical issues while coordinating with the E-coat Leader and quality staff.

The role requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and performing routine inspections alongside maintenance and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in a lab environment; titration experience preferred.
• Able to read and understand work instructions.
• Able to train others as needed.
• Understands FIFO principles of stock rotation and shelf life.
• Capable of working with quality, maintenance, and engineering teams.
• Able to stand 8+ hours and lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the E-coat system to ensure quality and safety standards.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Perform titrations and other measuring/testing.
• Use meters to check the E-coat system readings.
• Document readings in SPC charts and adjust as needed.
• Communicate conditions to shift operators and quality personnel.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and chemical problems.
• Manage wastewater operation for the E-coat system.
• Maintain updated records and inspect the line during rounds.
• Prepare chemical containers for shipment and change filters.
• Remove product from line as required and operate lift trucks.
