Job summary

The City of East Point in Georgia seeks an Assistant E-911 Manager to oversee the emergency communications center, supervise supervisors, ensure compliance with GA POST, GCIC, FCC, and support staffing, training, and technology systems.

You will act as second in command to the Communications Manager, coordinating with police, fire, EMS, and public safety partners, and driving performance metrics and policy updates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in emergency management or related field; Master’s preferred
• Six years in emergency communications or public safety
• Two years of supervisory experience in E-911
• Equivalent combination of education and progressive experience for twelve years
• Familiarity with GA POST, GCIC, FCC and related regulations

Responsibilities

• Directs supervisors and telecommunicators across all shifts
• Assist in hiring, discipline, performance evaluations, and employee development
• Oversees scheduling, staffing levels, and overtime management
• Ensure compliance with GA POST, GCIC, FCC, and other regulatory standards
• Develop, implement, and update policies, procedures, and SOPs
• Monitor and evaluate operational performance, including call handling and response metrics
• Oversee training programs, certifications, and quality assurance processes
• Assist in budget preparation, resource allocation, and equipment planning
• Coordinate with police, fire, EMS, and other public safety partners
• Manage major incident communications and provide command level support during emergencies
• Assists with technology systems including CAD, radio systems, and E-911 infrastructure
• Prepare reports, statistics, and presentations for leadership
• Perform other related duties as assigned
