Job summary

The San Diego State University Library is accepting applications for a temporary full-time Assistant Librarian pool. This role includes in-person and online reference, research services, and instruction to SDSU students and faculty.

The position involves supervising student workers, delivering information literacy instruction, and maintaining ADA-compliant online guides. Initial 12-month appointment with potential renewal; salary range posted and benefits available; background checks and union

Qualifications

• ALA-accredited master’s degree or equivalent foreign degree.
• A demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity.
• Experience providing reference assistance and familiarity with reference tools.
• Experience teaching information literacy in a variety of disciplines (preferred).
• Experience in development of online tutorials or web guides (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Participate as a general reference librarian at the reference desk and provide in-person and online LibChat reference services.
• Supervise and train student workers who assist at the reference desk and online LibChat reference services.
• Conduct course-related information literacy instruction for undergraduate courses.
• Conduct orientation tours for potential and new students and groups.
• Review and update online research guides for ADA compliance.
• Other duties as needed.
