Job summary

San Diego State University Library in San Diego is seeking a temporary full-time Assistant Librarian to support in-person and online reference, research services, and instruction for students and faculty.

The successful candidate will possess strong communication, organizational skills, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; experience with public service, teaching, and library research is preferred.

Qualifications

• ALA-accredited master’s degree or equivalent.
• Commitment to fostering diversity.
• Experience providing reference assistance and familiarity with reference tools.

Responsibilities

• Participate as a general reference librarian at the reference desk.
• Provide LibChat reference services and research consultations.
• Supervise and train student workers at the reference desk and LibChat.
• Conduct information literacy instruction for undergraduate courses.
• Conduct orientation tours for prospective and new students.
