Job summary

Somic America Inc. in Brewer, ME, is seeking a Shipping & Receiving Operator to help move materials and finished goods safely and accurately within a fast-paced facility.

You will load and unload trucks, prepare shipments, verify accuracy, and support Kaizen initiatives while maintaining safety and inventory controls. This is a full-time role with opportunities to learn AIM, Excel, and Word in a collaborative team setting, contributing to on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to read shipping documents and work instructions.
• Strong math and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly (75 lbs. occasionally).
• Ability to stand and walk throughout the shift.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload incoming and outgoing trucks.
• Prepare customer shipments, including staging, wrapping, strapping, and labeling.
• Verify shipments for accuracy before they leave the facility.
• Receive raw materials and maintain accurate inventory records using AIM.
• Transport materials and finished goods throughout the plant.
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely.
• Maintain FIFO inventory practices.
• Process shipping paperwork, including FedEx, UPS, export, and service part shipments.
• Inspect and sort returnable packaging.
• Help maintain an organized, clean, and safe Shipping & Receiving area.
• Support continuous improvement (Kaizen) initiatives.
