Job summary

Illinois Education Job Bank is seeking a 2027-2028 School Social Worker/Counselor to support district students with assessment, intervention, and behavioral planning. The role involves collaborating with teachers, families, and specialists to develop IEPs and FBAs, and to apply data-driven strategies within educational goals.

The candidate will work within Illinois public school systems, plan individualized services, conduct home visits when needed, and maintain accurate records under IDEA

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work or counseling from an accredited program.
• Licensed as per Illinois State Board of Education requirements: School Social Worker or School Counselor.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of content and application in school social work services including assessment, crises intervention, home visits, therapeutic practice, and conflict resolution.
• Establishes measurable goals appropriate for the setting and student.
• Plans and designs individualized social work services and coherent interventions based on data and clinical rationale.
• Creates a positive environment, advocates for appropriate services, and collaborates with families and staff.
