Job summary

Metter School District is seeking a School Librarian at J.L. Newbern to lead a dynamic library program that supports teaching and learning through information literacy, digital citizenship, and literature appreciation.

You will collaborate with teachers, manage the collection using Destiny Follett, promote reading initiatives, and integrate technology across curricula while maintaining an inclusive, safe library space.

Qualifications

• The candidate must hold a Georgia professional certificate in School Library Media or P-12 and a Master’s degree in Library Media or Instructional Technology.
• Experience collaborating with teachers and staff in a dynamic school setting is preferred.
• Strong understanding of library systems, instructional design, digital tools, and literature for children and young adults.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of a school-wide literacy culture through curated print and digital resources.
• Collaborate with teachers to integrate information literacy into standards-based lessons.
• Provide instruction on technologies, databases, and information tools to students and staff.
• Ensure equitable access to resources and support inclusive instruction.
• Manage collection lifecycle including selection, cataloging, and weeding.
