Job summary

Provident Bank in New Jersey is seeking an experienced Mortgage Loan Originator to originate residential mortgages by building centers of influence such as realtors, attorneys, builders, and financial professionals.

The role emphasizes outbound activity including travel between customer sites and Provident offices; it is a commission-based position with annual loan origination goals and no fixed base salary.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with relevant training or on‑the‑job education.
• 3 years’ experience as a residential mortgage loan originator with established business contacts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Motivation to meet and drive sales targets.
• Ability to develop meaningful relationships with internal and external customers.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
• Intermediate knowledge of business technology, including mortgage loan systems and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Generates loans through prospecting and follow-up on leads.
• Initiates loan applications via internet, phone, in person, by fax or email.
• Submits applications with documents and follows up with borrowers.
• Maintains referral sources through regular calls and meetings.
• Develops realtor contacts and lending in target census tracts.
• Keeps informed on FHA/USDA products and housing programs.
• Participates in events and trainings; may include evenings/weekends.
