Job summary

TriStar Centennial Medical Center in Nashville is seeking a Registered Nurse to evaluate patients before surgery and educate families about perioperative care. You will prepare patients for procedures with IV therapy, medications, and site verification, while participating in universal protocols and patient safety initiatives.

You will be part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team, applying the nursing process and evidence-based practices to deliver high-quality care and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• (RN) Registered Nurse.
• Registered Nurse Diploma, or Bachelors Degree, or Associate Degree.
• OR Circulating experience REQUIRED!

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and perioperative process.
• Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including IV therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while applying evidence-based practices and improvement initiatives.
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team with providers and surgeons.
• Apply the nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe nursing care.
• Assess patient condition, monitor during shift, and document changes thoroughly.
• Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment and follow-up.
