Job summary

TriStar Centennial Medical Center is seeking an Operating Room Nurse for a PRN role to support perioperative care and patient safety in a collaborative environment.

You will evaluate patients prior to surgery, educate families, prepare patients with IV therapy and meds, and participate in universal protocols. You will work with surgeons, techs, and an interdisciplinary team to ensure quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of start date.
• Registered Nurse (RN) licensed.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree or RN Diploma.
• OR Circulating experience REQUIRED!

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education about procedures and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patients including IV therapy, preoperative meds, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification, time out, briefing/debriefing per policy.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practice and improvement initiatives.
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe care.
• Assess patient condition, monitor, and document changes and care provided.
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment, and follow-up.
