Job summary

WSP USA has immediate openings for an On Call Field Archaeologist Technician to support Phase I cultural resources surveys across Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas. This on-call, hourly role offers industry-competitive rates and local travel considerations.

Qualified candidates hold an undergraduate degree in anthropology/archaeology with at least 3 years of field experience and can work independently or in a team environment while adhering to safety and company policies.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in anthropology/archaeology or closely related field; Archaeological field school or similar experience.
• 3+ years relevant work experience.
• Self-motivated, physically able to conduct fieldwork in all weather conditions and follow instructions.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others.
• Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail and multitasking in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team to meet objectives.
• Basic proficiency with business writing and office software.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and health policies.
• Ability to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Phase I Intensive Cultural Resources Surveys, including pedestrian survey, excavation and recording shovel tests, and artifact recovery and identification.
• Record archaeological data using field forms (artifact type, soil color, textures, etc.).
• Work effectively as part of a team and adhere to company conduct and safety policies.
