Job summary

Joliet Junior College seeks a Specialist, Library Collection Management to support technical services, copy cataloging, and catalog maintenance in a fast-paced environment.

You will manage acquisitions, integrate electronic resources into the ILS, and assist in inventory and reports while working with a diverse student body under the supervision of the Department Chair and Technical Services Librarian.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability and willingness to work cooperatively with a diverse population in a team-based work environment.
• Extensive personal computer skills and knowledge of several software applications including Microsoft Office Suite for Windows and/or Mac, Email, and Internet.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision by being self-motivated/self-disciplined.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
• Demonstrated commitment to the college’s core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality.

Responsibilities

• Provide exemplary customer service and assistance in person and online, understanding and applying library policies.
• Uphold and interpret library procedures for users.
• Determine user needs, locate materials, and assist with technical issues.
• Participate in committees, task forces, and projects.
• Maintain cooperative teamwork in processing materials and supporting curriculum.
