Job summary

YMCA of NorthWest North Carolina is seeking a high-energy group exercise instructor to help members reach their fitness goals while having fun. You will lead energizing classes, ensure safety, and create a welcoming atmosphere for all fitness levels.

You will answer member questions, stay current on wellness trends, and build authentic relationships within the YMCA community. Certification in CPR/FA/AED within 30 days of hire is required. Instructor experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Certifications required for classes taught and other YMCA certifications.
• CPR/FA/AED/02 (ASHI) within 30 days of hire.
• Instructor experience preferred.
• Strong communication and social media skills.
• Knowledge of YMCA mission and philosophy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes as directed by the supervisor.
• Creates a welcoming class environment for all fitness levels and encourages and motivates class members.
• Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living.
• Builds authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
• Keeps accurate class attendance records.
• Attends required training sessions, workshops and staff meetings.
• Participates in master classes, fundraising and other special events.
• Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
