Job summary

The University of Akron is seeking a Laborer to perform general indoor and outdoor labor, including snow removal, loading/unloading, mowing, planting, custodial tasks, and setup for events. The role supports grounds and custodial teams and may assist skilled trades.

Shifts available: Tue–Sat or Sun–Thu, with potential overtime. This is a union position with a salary Grade 3 and comprehensive benefits, including a pension and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED and ability to read and write sentences.
• Must have at least 6 months of work experience operating grounds maintenance and custodial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform general indoor and outdoor labor including snow removal, loading/unloading, and deliveries.
• Assist grounds personnel with mowing, planting, weeding, and cleaning duties.
• Support events setup and removal of tables, chairs, stages, and platforms.
• Assist skilled tradespersons as needed and complete related duties.
