Job summary

Roadrunner is seeking a Freight Handler to keep our Chicago dock flowing safely and efficiently. You will load, unload, and secure shipments, operate forklifts, and maintain a clean, safe work area in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 1–3 months of related experience, and a forklift qualification. Hazardous materials training is preferred, with opportunities for training and advancement within the Operations team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 months of related experience or training.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Forklift driver qualification required.
• Hazardous Material Training preferred.
• Experience in freight, logistics, warehouse, or LTL environments is a plus.
• Ability to perform basic math using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

• Execute high-precision freight handling: load, unload, stack, and secure freight with accuracy and care.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hoists, and other equipment to move freight.
• Maintain dock flow and cleanliness; support cross-functional teams to meet throughput goals.
• Communicate safety concerns and delays clearly to leadership and teammates.
• Prioritize tasks to meet timelines while maintaining safety and quality.
