Job summary

Roadrunner hosts a on-site Hostler role at our Chicago, IL service center, moving trailers and freight to maintain dock flow and throughput. You’ll operate forklifts, load/unload materials, and secure loads for safe shipment.

Safety procedures are a core requirement, with routine equipment checks and hazard handling as needed. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 0–3 years in warehousing or logistics, and forklift certification (or ability to obtain).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent required.
• 0–3 years in warehouse, logistics, or freight handling environments.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
• Hazardous Materials training or willingness to complete training.
• Able to read and interpret safety rules and work orders.
• Strong math skills and problem solving.
• Clear verbal communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
• Sound judgment in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Execute yard and dock movement with precision and shuttle trailers.
• Load, unload, transport freight; move materials with equipment; secure loads.
• Follow safety protocols and perform routine equipment checks.
• Coordinate with operations/dock supervisors to align priorities.
• Track tasks and manage multiple priorities with accuracy and safety.
