Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Parking & Transportation’s Special Events unit handles nearly 200 events per year, directing traffic and processing payments while parking over 100,000 cars. This dynamic role requires dependable, flexible team players who deliver a positive customer experience in all weather.

Shifts include evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Training will cover credit card processing, traffic control, and event information duties to ensure smooth operation for faculty,

Qualifications

• Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Strong verbal and written communication and customer service.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Prior customer service in fast-paced or public-facing role.
• Respectful and professional with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Process credit card transactions via POS handheld device at parking location entrance.
• Process pre-pay transactions via the POS handheld device at parking location entrance.
• Reconcile POS handheld device at end of the event.
• Provide traffic control at various points throughout the parking location.
• May include controlling a section of a parking garage for ADA or VIP parkers and controlling access to that section.
• Controlling elevator pedestrian flow for high profile/high attendee events.
