Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is seeking a qualified Teacher in Chicago, IL. Under the supervision of the school principal, the teacher will plan, instruct, monitor student progress, and uphold the Uniform Discipline Code within CPS guidelines.

The candidate must hold an Illinois teaching certificate (PEL/ELS) and demonstrate strong classroom management and communication skills to support student achievement in a vibrant urban school environment.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of student teaching and coursework to obtain Illinois teaching certificate(s).
• Possession of Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS) endorsed for the position.
• Knowledge of subject matter and contemporary teaching practices.
• Ability to modify instruction to meet student needs and collaborate with staff and parents.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan lessons and prepare instructional materials aligned with curriculum objectives.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and seating charts.
• Establish rules of conduct consistent with CPS policy and discipline code.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about student progress and behavior.
• Participate in in-service meetings and professional staff development.
