Job summary

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) seeks a licensed teacher responsible for instruction, progress, and discipline within assigned classes. The role requires planning, assessing student progress, and maintaining records in line with CPS guidelines.

The teacher will apply contemporary teaching methods, communicate with parents, participate in professional meetings, and support school-wide attendance and discipline initiatives in accordance with CPS policies.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of student teaching requirements and coursework to obtain the appropriate teaching certificate(s) issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.
• Possess at least one valid teaching license issued by the Illinois State Board of Education: PEL or ELS.
• Knowledge of subject matter, classroom management, and effective teaching practices.

Responsibilities

• Plan instructional activities and provide written lesson plans aligned with curriculum objectives.
• Establish positive learning expectations and evaluate pupil progress; maintain accurate records.
• Communicate with parents/guardians regarding academic progress, attendance, and conduct.
• Participate in staff meetings, in-service trainings, and school programs; may coordinate field trips and after-school activities.
