Under the general direction of a dean, an Instructor (Non-Contact/Temporary) provides comprehensive classroom instruction to students from diverse backgrounds for the purpose of facilitating the attainment of their academic or vocational

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications for the discipline include: any bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience OR any associate degree and six years of professional experience OR the equivalent OR possession of an appropriate California Community College Credential.
• Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a master's degree.
• The professional experience required must be directly related to the faculty member's teaching assignment.
• All coursework must be from a recognized accredited college or university.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic instruction through lecture, lab, or performance courses and assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher order thinking among students.
• Advise and instruct students on programs of study, resources, and other professionals as appropriate.
• Observe and evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback in class, online, or during office hours.
• Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and student learning outcomes, aligning with department, college, and district goals.
• Maintain accurate records of enrollment, attendance, progress, and outcomes; submit data and reports on time.
• Evaluate and select instructional materials and order resources to ensure timely delivery.
• Revise and update course content in line with new developments; update syllabi and collaborate on measurable outcomes.
• May participate in curriculum development and in department/college meetings; possible involvement in articulation and matriculation activities.
• May provide work direction to others; perform related duties as assigned.
