Job summary

Head-Royce School in Oakland, CA, seeks a part-time After-School Counselor for the ASP, starting August 10, 2026. Qualifications

• Minimum of one-year experience working with children/youth.
• Water safety and CPR/First Aid certification (training provided).
• Ability to provide fingerprint, SB848 and TB clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide energetic, positive support to students to foster a safe, enriching and fun atmosphere.
• Manage student safety; ensure all students are accounted for and staff aware of whereabouts.
• Supervise and participate in student-led activities during unscripted and scripted time.
• Engage in activities with students from K-6; lead an enrichment class for two trimesters.
• Report unsafe conditions and provide accident/incident reports as needed.
• Communicate effectively with co-counselors and Director of Extended Learning via walkie talkie.
• Collaborate with co-counselors and Director of Extended Learning for smooth daily flow.
• Provide conflict-management mentoring and facilitate student discussions.
• Respond to parent and children concerns professionally.
• Be flexible, creative, and resourceful to meet student and parent needs.
• Plan activities during prep/slow times for next day readiness.
