ManpowerGroup's client, a leading organization in the telecommunications and technology sector, seeks a DWDM/Optical Transport Engineer to join its team in Ashburn, VA. The role focuses on hands-on support for the Ciena 6500 DWDM platform, including deployment, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance to ensure high availability and reliable network performance.

Qualifications

• DWDM optical transport networks experience with Ciena 6500 platform.
• Experience diagnosing optical issues including signal loss, reflections and power deviations.
• Proficiency reading signal flow diagrams and using optical testing tools (OTDRs, VFLs).
• Experience with automation tools and workflows; quick to adapt to new tech.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, test, turn‑up, maintain and troubleshoot Ciena 6500 DWDM networks in a data center environment.
• Use OTDRs, power meters, and VFLs to diagnose and test optical links.
• Maintain optical transport gear: OLS, ROADMs, amplifiers, mux/demux, transponders.
• Read signal flow diagrams to troubleshoot network issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational workflows and troubleshooting efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on deployments and maintenance.
