Job summary

ManpowerGroup in Ashburn, VA seeks a DWDM/Optical Transport Engineer to support deployment, testing, turn-up, maintenance and troubleshooting of the Ciena 6500 DWDM networks in a data center environment.

You will use OTDRs, power meters and VFLs to diagnose issues and perform optical testing, while supporting ROADMs, amplifiers and transponders. Collaborate with teams to keep networks highly available and optimized.

Qualifications

• Experience with DWDM optical transport networks and Ciena 6500 platform.
• Ability to diagnose signal loss, reflections and power deviations.
• Experience with optical testing tools such as OTDRs and VFLs.
• Comfort with automation tools/workflows and quick adaptability.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Support deployment, testing, turn-up, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Ciena 6500 DWDM networks in a data center environment.
• Utilize OTDRs, power meters, and VFLs to diagnose issues and perform optical testing.
• Support and maintain optical transport infrastructure including OLS, ROADMs, amplifiers, mux/demux, and transponders.
• Read and interpret signal flow diagrams to troubleshoot network issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational processes and troubleshooting efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support deployments and operational initiatives.
