Job summary

Advocate Health's Aurora Medical Group in Park Ridge is seeking a Surgical Scheduler to support the care team and patients. This dual role includes referral coordination and surgical scheduling, with a Monday–Friday schedule, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, and 8.5-hour days with a lunch.

The role coordinates procedures between physicians, offices, OR time, anesthesia and related departments, ensuring smooth operations, accurate billing and compassionate patient care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Typically 1 year of health care experience in customer service, scheduling, registration, insurance authorization or patient billing.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates scheduling of surgical procedures between physicians and offices, OR time, anesthesia and other departments; communicates changes and adjusts to maximize room and equipment use.
• Schedules next day and beyond procedures; maintains surgery assignments and distributes future OR schedules; notifies providers of changes.
• Obtains necessary lab work, x-rays and H&P as applicable.
• Processes patient charges; reviews revenue and ensures codes are entered correctly; runs reports and updates charges as needed.
• Answers, screens, triages, prioritizes and manages incoming calls as a resource to providers, staff, patients and families.
• Operates and troubleshoots office equipment; may manage inventory and orders supplies.
