Job Description Summary / TWC Summary

The Dual Enrollment Academic Advisor provides proactive academicadvising, case management, enrollment support, andcollege-readiness guidance to prospective, new, and continuing dualenrollment students, The advisor manages an assigned caseload andcollaborates with students, families, high school partners,faculty, University departments, and community partners to supportstudents from application and registration through academicprogress, completion, and transition to Texas Southern University,another postsecondary institution, or the workforce.

Essential Duties Summary
  • Provide individual and group advice on educational and careerplanning, course selection, degree pathways, and transferoptions.
  • Manage an assigned caseload; monitor enrollment, attendance,academic progress, persistence, and completion using Universitysystems; and document advising contacts and outcomes,
  • Respond to early alerts and academic concerns, coordinateinterventions, and refer students to tutoring, testing,accessibility, counseling, and other support services,
  • Assist students with application, onboarding, college-readinessrequirements, orientation, registration, and enrollment
  • Explain University policies and procedures, including FERPA,registration changes, withdrawal, repeated coursework, academicstanding, transcripts, and degree requirements; teach students tonavigate University systems and resources independently.
  • Serve as a liaison to assigned high schools and districts,providing accurate information on requirements, timelines,services, and student progress as appropriate,
  • Conduct high school visits, advising and registration events,orientations, parent/family sessions, workshops, and other dualenrollment activities,
  • Assist graduating students with transition to Texas SouthernUniversity or other postsecondary institutions.
  • Support dual enrollment recruitment, retention, completion,student communications, reporting, assessment, and continuousimprovement.
  • Maintain current knowledge of TSU programs, policies, dualenrollment requirements, and student services; complete requiredtraining and professional development.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as required.

Hiring Range

$45,486.69-$57,995.53

Education
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
Preferred
  • Master’s degree in higher education four-year College oruniversity or equivalent, education, counseling, student affairs,educational leadership, or a related field . Proof of enrollment ina master’s Program may suffice.
Required Licensing/Certification

Valid driver’s license required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of academic advising, student development, collegeaccess, and student success practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, families,educators, faculty, University personnel, and communitypartners.
  • Strong customer service, organization, interpersonalcommunication, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple student cases and priorities whilemaintaining confidential student information in accordance withFERPA and University requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and studentinformation/advising systems; familiarity with Banner, Slate,Navigate360, Canvas, or comparable systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with Texas dual credit requirements, the TexasSuccess Initiative, and the Texas Common Course Numbering Systempreferred.
  • Ability to travel to partner schools and work occasionallyevenings and weekends.
  • Ability to maintain the security or integrity of criticalinfrastructure, which may include communications systems, computernetworks and systems, cybersecurity systems,
  • electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment or water treatmentsystem.
Work Experience
Preferred
  • One (1) year of related professional experience in academicadvising, student services, admissions/enrollment, college access,student success, secondary education, higher education, or arelated area preferred.
  • Experience with high school or college-aged students, dualcredit/early college programs,
  • K- 12/postsecondary partnerships, or student caseloadspreferred.
  • Experience working in an educational setting
Working/Environmental Conditions

Work is performed in the university, high school, and communitysettings and requires regular interaction with students, families,school personnel, faculty, and staff. Local travel and occasional evening or weekend work may berequired. Must be able to perform essential duties with or without reasonableaccommodation and occasionally move materials weighing up to 25pounds.
