JOB SUMMARY :

The Department of Counseling, in collaboration with the Division ofResearch and Innovation, seeks applications for a 9-monthtenure-track faculty position focused on externally fundedresearch, doctoral education, and scholarly impact.

The successful candidate will develop and sustain a competitiveresearch agenda supported by external funding, contribute todoctoral and master’s-level instruction, mentor graduate anddoctoral students, and engage in service consistent with rank andcareer stage. This position is structured to provide institutionalresearch support, workload transparency, and mentorship to promotefaculty success across the tenure and promotion process.

During periods of active external funding, the faculty member mayalso hold a 3-month summer appointment, typically involvingteaching or research-aligned activities within the College ofEducation.

Essential Duties Summary
Research and Scholarship:
  • Develop, lead, and sustain a competitive externally fundedresearch program aligned with disciplinary and institutionalpriorities
  • Prepare and submit grant proposals in collaboration withinstitutional research support personnel
  • Manage funded research projects in compliance with universityand sponsor requirements
  • Produce and disseminate scholarly work through peer-reviewedpublications, presentations, and other discipline-appropriateoutlets
  • Mentor graduate and doctoral students in research activitiesaligned with funded and unfunded scholarly projects
  • Engage in interdisciplinary and collaborative researchinitiatives within and beyond the university
Teaching and Doctoral Mentorship:
  • Teach graduate-level courses in the faculty member’s area ofexpertise, including doctoral-level courses in the Ed.D.program
  • Advise and mentor doctoral students, including supervision ofdissertations and applied research projects
  • Integrate research activities into graduate and doctoralinstruction to enhance student scholarly development
  • Engage in reflective teaching practices and continuousinstructional improvement
  • Participate in assessment activities related to teachingeffectiveness and student learning outcomes
Service and Professional Engagement:
  • Participate in departmental, college, and university serviceactivities consistent with rank and career stage
  • Contribute to program development, accreditation, andresearch-focused initiatives
  • Engage in professional service at the local, regional,national, or international level as appropriate
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support scholarly,instructional, and co-curricular activities
Summer Appointment (During External Funding Periods):
  • Participate in a 3-month summer appointment, typicallyinvolving teaching, research, or programmatic activities alignedwith faculty expertise

Education

An earned doctoral degree in Educational Administration,Educational Leadership and Policy Studies or an equivalentfield

Knowledge of:
  • Advanced knowledge of the counseling profession relates todoctoral education, research, and professional training.
  • Knowledge of externally funded research processes, includinggrant development, administration, and project management.
  • Knowledge of doctoral education structures, graduate mentorshippractices, and applied research models.
  • Familiarity with research ethics, regulatory compliance, andinstitutional review processes.
  • Awareness of current trends, theories, emerging issues, andevidence-informed practices within the counseling discipline.
  • Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications.
Skill in:
  • Strong research design, analysis, and scholarly writingskills
  • Grant writing and proposal development skills or demonstratedpotential to secure external funding

  • Two or more years of postdoctoral research experience.
  • A record of impactful research publications in peer-reviewedjournals.

  • Experience developing and maintaining a funded researchprogram.
  • Experience mentoring and advising graduate students.
  • Experience fostering a sense of belonging for all students,including traditionally underrepresented populations in EducationalAdministration.
  • Experience in recruitment and retention of graduatestudents.
  • Drive to excel in teaching, research, and service.
