Job summary

RSU 74 is seeking a dynamic Principal to lead two small Pre-K to Grade 5 buildings. The role emphasizes instructional leadership, data-informed decision making, and a strong focus on attendance, engagement, and inclusive practices for students with IEPs.

The Principal will split time between Solon Elementary and Garret Schenck School, addressing rural district challenges and supporting staff to foster growth and achievement district-wide.

Qualifications

• Must hold Maine building administrator certification (040) or be eligible.
• Experience in elementary education preferred.
• Proven success with data-informed instructional improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support PreK–5 teaching and learning across two buildings.
• Use student data to drive instructional decisions and monitor progress.
• Collaborate with staff to address building needs and operations, especially when the principal is off-site.
• Build strong relationships with students, families, and community members.
• Promote strategies to improve student attendance and engagement.
• Support inclusive practices for students with IEPs.
