Houlton Middle High School (Grades 7-12), 26-27 School Year

Houlton Middle High School is seeking a visionary, collaborative, and student-centered Building Principal to lead our grades 7–12 campus. If you are a passionate educator dedicated to fostering a positive school culture, driving academic excellence, and building strong community partnerships, we want you on our leadership team.

Responsibilities
  • Instructional & Staff Leadership:
    • Drive Excellence: Oversee and elevate classroom instruction and student learning; design comprehensive programs aligned with State and National standards, along with community needs.
    • Data-Informed: Monitor and leverage student achievement data to make strategic instructional decisions.
    • Empower Faculty: Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate staff; cultivate a highly collaborative work environment and champion impactful professional development.
  • School Operations & Culture:
    • Cultivate Climate: Foster an equitable, inclusive, and supportive school culture that prioritizes student and staff well‑being and active engagement.
    • Safe Operations: Allocate resources effectively and ensure strict adherence to federal, state, and local policies.
    • Accountability: Maintain fair and consistent student attendance and behavioral systems that align with the school's core mission.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Build Partnerships: Actively involve families, caregivers, and community members in school life, activities, and collaborative decision‑making.
    • Communicate Clearly: Serve as the primary ambassador for school programs, goals, and achievements.
Qualifications
  • Education: Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or a related field.
  • Certification: Valid Maine Administrator Certification (040).
  • Experience: 3–5 years of successful experience as a classroom teacher; prior school administrator experience at the middle/high school level preferred.
  • Legal & Academic Knowledge: Familiarity with Maine Learning Results, state assessments, and federal/state education laws (IDEA, Section 504, Title IX).
  • Skills: Strong commitment to equity, excellent problem‑solving abilities, and tech proficiency.
  • Proper Maine DOE certification and background check required for all positions.
