Job summary

Janko Hospitality seeks a Dual Assistant General Manager to support the General Manager across two properties in Ottawa. You will lead teams, manage guest satisfaction, budgeting, and revenue optimization, with flexibility for varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.

The role requires 3–5 years of progressive hospitality management experience, strong leadership, and excellent organizational skills. Prior multi-property oversight is highly valued.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• College degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations and team performance across two properties, ensuring consistent service and excellence.
• Provide leadership with flexible schedules, including 24/7 on-call support as needed.
• Administer HR functions: enforcing policies, payroll, recruitment, onboarding and staff development.
• Monitor guest satisfaction, resolve issues, uphold brand cleanliness, maintenance and safety standards.
• Analyze financial performance: budget management, expense control, invoice processing, cash handling.
• Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations including OSHA/HazCom and brand protocols.
• Maintain security awareness and manage guest incidents, lost and found.
• Utilize office tech and property management systems to support operations.
• Perform physically demanding tasks as needed (lifting up to 50 lbs).
• Balance leadership across both properties to optimize performance.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Dual Assistant General Manager at Fairfield Inn & Suites Ottawa and Hampton Inn & Suites Ottawa plays a critical leadership role in supporting the General Manager and ensuring seamless daily operations across both properties. This position is responsible for team management, guest satisfaction, strategic planning, budgeting, and revenue optimization. Success in this role requires strong leadership, operational expertise, and a solid background in hospitality management. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional organizational and customer service skills, with flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee daily operations and team performance across both hotel properties, ensuring consistent service standards and operational excellence.
• Provide leadership presence with flexibility to work varied schedules, including availability for 24/7 on-call support as needed.
• Administer HR functions such as enforcing company policies, managing payroll processes, and supporting recruitment, onboarding, and team development initiatives.
• Monitor guest satisfaction, resolve service issues, and uphold brand standards for cleanliness, maintenance, and safety.
• Analyze operational and financial performance, including budget management, expense control, invoice processing, and cash handling procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA, HAZCOM, and brand-specific safety protocols.
• Maintain security awareness by reporting suspicious behavior, handling guest incidents, and overseeing lost and found procedures.
• Utilize office technology, property management systems, and communication tools efficiently to support daily operations.
• Perform physically demanding tasks as necessary, including lifting items up to 50 lbs. and remaining active throughout shifts.
• Effectively divide time and attention between both properties to support balanced leadership and optimal performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive management experience in the hospitality industry, including multi-unit or dual-property oversight.
• Proven experience with established hospitality brands strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership in team development, operational efficiency, and guest satisfaction.
• Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Strong ability to manage multiple priorities, delegate effectively, and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
