Job summary

Devereux in Winter Park, FL is seeking a Direct Support Leader (DSP Lead) to mentor and guide staff delivering behavioral health support to adolescents and adults.

Responsibilities include personal care, behavioral support, skill development, crisis intervention, documentation, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Requires a high school diploma and 1 year of related experience; a Bachelor's in a related field is preferred. Multiple shifts are available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Social Work preferred.
• One (1) year of experience working with persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities, or 1 year experience in a medical, psychiatric, nursing or related setting required.
• Post-Secondary education may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

• Providing Personal Care: Assist with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and meal preparation.
• Behavioral Support: Implement behavior management plans and support individuals in developing coping strategies.
• Skill Development: Facilitate skill-building activities, including social skills, communication, and life skills training.
• Crisis Intervention: Recognize signs of distress and de-escalate situations effectively and safely.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of client progress, incidents, and daily activities.
• Transportation: Assist clients with transportation to appointments, community activities, or school.
• Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists, nurses, and family members.
• Training and Education: Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on best practices in behavioral health support.
• Engagement and Crisis Support: Ensure all staff are actively engaging with individuals and provide assistance during crises when needed.
• Demonstrates Leadership and Delegates Tasks: Provide clear direction to staff, supervise daily operations, and delegate responsibilities to direct support professionals to ensure efficient service delivery.

Education
