Job summary

The Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is seeking compassionate Direct Support Professionals to join our group homes in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. You’ll help residents with daily living, personal care, and life skills in a supportive, team-based environment.

Responsibilities include assistance with bathing, toileting, meals, medication administration, transportation to programs, and thorough daily documentation.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with ID/DD population is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to meet CPR/First Aid and emergency procedures.

Regular Salary: $20.49 per hour Mon-Fri and $21.49 per hour (shifts beginning 11PM Friday to 11PM on Sunday). Non-work time will be paid at the base rate.

What’s the role of a Direct Support Professional/Residential Counselor (DSP)?

• Residential Counselor is a direct care professional whose primary responsibility is to help meet the personal health, safety and welfare of the people living in the group home.
• You will assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas i.e. bathing/toileting; participate and/or supervise in cleaning, cooking and life skills.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• You must communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and the individuals living in the homes.
• Drive residents to/from day programs, outside/within their community using agency vehicles.
• This position requires daily documentation of services provided.
• Assist with fun community based activities

Job Requirements:

• Be motivated to work as part of a team that acts in the best interest of our residents at all times

• A valid (non-provisional) driver’s license
• The ability to meet the physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and our emergency evacuation procedures.

Per Diem (M-F 7am-10:30am, All evenings 3:00pm-11:00pm, All overnights 11:00pm-7:00am)

All staff must attend a monthly Staff Meeting – date/time to be determined and announced in advance
