Job summary

Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is seeking a Direct Support Professional/Overnight Residential Counselor to assist residents in group homes. The role includes personal care, meds administration and daily documentation, with weekend coverage on Friday 11PM–Sunday 11PM and a 24-hour weekly shift schedule.

We offer paid training and a range of benefits; applicants should have a HS diploma and a valid driver’s license, plus willingness to work as part of a compassionate care team.

Qualifications

• Experience with ID/DD population is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with personal care such as bathing and toileting.
• Supervise cleaning, cooking and life skills activities.
• Administer and assist with medication administration.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers and residents.
• Drive residents to/from day programs and community activities.
• Maintain daily documentation of services provided.
• Support residents in engaging in community activities.

Regular Salary: $20.49 per hour Mon-Fri and $21.49 per hour (shifts beginning 11PM Friday to 11PM on Sunday). Non-work time will be paid at the base rate.

What’s the role of a Direct Support Professional/Overnight Residential Counselor (DSP)?

• Residential Counselor is a direct care professional whose primary responsibility is to help meet the personal health, safety and welfare of the people living in the group home.
• You will assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas i.e. bathing/toileting; participate and/or supervise in cleaning, cooking and life skills.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• You must communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and the individuals living in the homes.
• Drive residents to/from day programs, outside/within their community using agency vehicles.
• This position requires daily documentation of services provided.
• Assist with fun community based activities

Job Requirements:

• Be motivated to work as part of a team that acts in the best interest of our residents at all times
• Experience with ID/DD population is a plus
• This career requires HS diploma or equivalent
• A valid (non-provisional) driver’s license
• The ability to meet the physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and our emergency evacuation procedures.

Part Time-Shift: 24 hours per week (Monday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday 3pm-9pm)

All staff must attend a monthly Staff Meeting – date/time to be determined and announced in advance
