Job summary

Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) seeks a Direct Support Professional for an overnight group home position (17.5 hours/week). You will assist residents with personal care and daily living activities, maintain safety, and document care provided.

The role emphasizes teamwork, effective communication, and adherence to care plans, with a requirement for a HS diploma and valid driver’s license. CPR/First Aid readiness is expected.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid (non-provisional) driver’s license.
• Experience with ID/DD population is a plus.
• Must meet CPR/First Aid and emergency evacuation requirements.

Responsibilities

• Help meet the personal health, safety and welfare of residents in the group home.
• Assist with bathing/toileting; participate in cleaning, cooking and life skills.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and residents.
• Drive residents to/from day programs and community activities using agency vehicles.
• Daily documentation of services provided.
• Assist with community-based activities.

Regular Salary: $20.49 per hour Mon-Fri and $21.49 per hour (shifts beginning 11PM Friday to 11PM on Sunday). Non-work time will be paid at the base rate.

What’s the role of a Direct Support Professional/Overnight Residential Counselor (DSP)?

• Residential Counselor is a direct care professional whose primary responsibility is to help meet the personal health, safety and welfare of the people living in the group home.
• You will assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas i.e. bathing/toileting; participate and/or supervise in cleaning, cooking and life skills.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• You must communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and the individuals living in the homes.
• Drive residents to/from day programs, outside/within their community using agency vehicles.
• This position requires daily documentation of services provided.
• Assist with fun community based activities

Job Requirements:

Part Time-Shift: 17.5 hours per week (Monday-Friday 7:00am-10:30am).

All staff must attend a monthly Staff Meeting – date/time to be determined and announced in advance
