Catholic Charities-Dept For Persons With Disabilities (DPD) in Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ, seeks Direct Support Professionals to support residents in our group homes, focusing on health, safety and welfare. You will assist with daily living tasks, medication support and community activities.

Part-time 24 hours per week, evenings (Mon, Fri, Sat & Sun 3:00pm-9:00pm). Competitive hourly pay: $20.49 weekday, $21.49 weekend; full benefits and paid training available.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid (non-provisional) driver’s license is required.
• Experience with ID/DD population is a plus.
• Must meet CPR/First Aid physical requirements.
• Excellent teamwork and communication with staff and residents.

Responsibilities

• Help meet residents' personal health, safety and welfare in the group home.
• Assist with bathing, toileting, cleaning, cooking and life skills.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• Drive residents to activities and appointments using agency vehicles.
• Daily documentation of services provided.
• Support fun community-based activities for residents.

Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is one of the largest Catholic Charities Agencies providing care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the United States. We are looking for dedicated, caring and compassionate people to work in our Group Homes.

Regular Salary: $20.49 per hour Mon-Fri and $21.49 per hour (shifts beginning 11PM Friday to 11PM on Sunday).

Non-work time will be paid at the base rate.

Part Time-Shift: 24 hours per week (Monday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday 3:00pm-9:00pm)

What’s the role of a Direct Support Professional/Residential Counselor (DSP)?

• Residential Counselor is a direct care professional whose primary responsibility is to help meet the personal health, safety and welfare of the people living in the group home.
• You will assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas i.e. bathing/toileting; participate and/or supervise in cleaning, cooking and life skills.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• You must communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and the individuals living in the homes.
• Drive residents to/from day programs, outside/within their community using agency vehicles.
• This position requires daily documentation of services provided.
• Assist with fun community-based activities

Requirements

• Be motivated to work as part of a team that acts in the best interest of our residents at all times

• This career requires HS diploma or equivalent
• A valid (non-provisional) driver’s license
• The ability to meet the physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and our emergency evacuation procedures.
