Catholic Charities-Dept For Persons With Disabilities (DPD) seeks compassionate Direct Support Professionals to help residents in our group homes in New Jersey. You will support daily living, safety, and health needs in a respectful, person-centered way.

Role includes assisting with personal care, medication support, transportation, documentation, and participation in community activities. A HS diploma and driver’s license are required; prior ID/DD experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Be motivated to work as part of a team in residents' best interests.
• Experience with ID/DD population is a plus.
• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to meet CPR/First Aid and emergency procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist with personal care such as bathing and toileting.
• Supervise/assist with cleaning, cooking and life skills.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• Communicate effectively with staff and residents.
• Drive residents to/from day programs using agency vehicles.
• Maintain daily documentation of services provided.
• Assist with community-based activities.

Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is one of the largest Catholic Charities Agencies providing care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the United States. We are looking for dedicated, caring and compassionate people to work in our Group Homes.

Regular Salary: $20.49 per hour Mon-Fri and $21.49 per hour (shifts beginning 11PM Friday to 11PM on Sunday).

Non-work time will be paid at the base rate.

Part Time-Shift: 14 hours per week (Saturday & Sunday 3:00pm-10:00pm)

What’s the role of a Direct Support Professional/Residential Counselor (DSP)?

• Residential Counselor is a direct care professional whose primary responsibility is to help meet the personal health, safety and welfare of the people living in the group home.
• You will assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas i.e. bathing/toileting; participate and/or supervise in cleaning, cooking and life skills.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• You must communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and the individuals living in the homes.
• Drive residents to/from day programs, outside/within their community using agency vehicles.
• This position requires daily documentation of services provided.
• Assist with fun community-based activities

Requirements

• A valid (non-provisional) driver’s license
• The ability to meet the physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and our emergency evacuation procedures.
