Job summary

Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is seeking a part-time Direct Support Professional/Residential Counselor to support residents in our group homes. You will assist with daily living activities, personal care, and ensuring health and safety in a compassionate environment.

The weekend shifts are 3:00pm-11:00pm on Saturdays and Sundays; compensation is $20.49/hour Mon-Fri and $21.49/hour for weekend hours, with paid training and a full benefits package, including medical, vision,

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• CPR/First Aid and emergency procedures knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Help meet personal health, safety and welfare of residents in group homes.
• Assist with bathing/toileting and daily living activities.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers and residents.
• Drive residents to day programs and community activities.
• Document services provided daily.
• Assist with community-based activities.

Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is one of the largest Catholic Charities Agencies providing care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the United States. We are looking for dedicated, caring and compassionate people to work in our Group Homes.

Regular Salary: $20.49 per hour Mon-Fri and $21.49 per hour (shifts beginning 11PM Friday to 11PM on Sunday).

Non-work time will be paid at the base rate.

Hours: Part Time-Shift: 16 hours per week (Saturday and Sunday 3:00pm-11:00pm)

What's the role of a Direct Support Professional/Residential Counselor (DSP)?

• A Residential Counselor is a direct care professional whose primary responsibility is to help meet the personal health, safety and welfare of the people living in the group home.
• You will assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas i.e. bathing/toileting; participate and/or supervise in cleaning, cooking and life skills.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• You must communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and the individuals living in the homes.
• Drive residents to/from day programs, outside/within their community using agency vehicles.
• This position requires daily documentation of services provided.
• Assist with fun community-based activities

Requirements

• Be motivated to work as part of a team that acts in the best interest of our residents at all times
• Experience with ID/DD population is a plus
• This career requires HS diploma or equivalent
• A valid (non-provisional) driver's license
• The ability to meet the physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and our emergency evacuation procedures.
